In my search for the perfect purple lipstick I stumbled on this lovely lippie by Dior, called 786 Mysterious mauve. Although it is more of a blue toned fuchsia than a true purple, it definitely leans more towards purple than pink.
Read on for swatches and some product pictures!
(I was wearing this eyelook with a coral red lipstick earlier that day, that's why it looks so weird with this lipstick. The eyeshadow is Zelda from shiro cosmetics :)
The lipstick comes in a classic Dior container. I guess a lot of people will think it looks classy and timeless, but I think it looks a bit boring and a tad too 'old' for my age. It does close well and I don't suspect it to break easily, so it does it's job.
And some swatches:
Bad picture.. It looks a lot more blue-toned in indirect light. |
It feels very soft on my lips and is not drying at all, and the wear is about 4-5 hours. This is the kind of lipstick that wears off in a flattering way, yay for that! As you can see it applies a lot lighter and less blue toned than it appears in the tube. It has a fuchsia base and reflects blue and it's super shiny. It depends on the lighting a bit, sometimes it looks a lot cooler.
I really love this color! It reminds me of the kind of shade that many old ladies in my home town used to wear during the 90's. I've seen a lot of pretty looks with purple lipstick on killer colours and I think I'm not the only one that suddenly needed a purple lipstick, because Viola pulls it off so well!
Mac lipsticks are about €17 for 3 gram over here, and this one cost me around €30 for only 3,5 gram. That's not exactly cheap :(
What's your opinion on purple lipstick?
I really want to get my hands on Illamasqua's Kontrol :)
