Essence I ♥ Extreme Volume mascara review

My lashes are a very cool ashy light brown color and they are thin and disorderly, especially at the outer corners. I think it's both that I have such lousy lashes and the fact that I am terrible at applying mascara, but I haven't run into many mascaras that I like.

A while ago I bought the 'I Extreme Volume' mascara from Essence, and I have been using it daily for weeks now!

The mascara has a very thick and creamy formula. You get a lot of product on your lashes with just one stroke, but you can easily keep adding layers. Unlike a lot of mascaras I tried in the past, this one is very soft and quite flexible, so you can layer it on and sculpt your lashes in the meantime. No need to let the mascara dry in between layers, so it takes very little time to apply.  The brush is very big, but a bit slimmer at the tip, so you can easily reach into the inner corner too.

Although it doesn't separate the lashes individually, but those mascaras tend to do nothing in making my lashes visibly fuller. It clump little strands of lashes together, but I think it still looks flattering. Another thing I like about it is that it's still soft to the touch when it's dried down. No crumbling mascara and broken lashes when you accidentally rub your eyes!

I didn't use an eyelash curler for these pictures, but it hold the curl pretty well if you use one.

I was pleasantly surprised! This is the first mascara ever that I am going to repurchase :) For my lashes this works great, but mascara is one of those things that are so personal that you never know how it will work for you. The good thing about this mascara is that it only costs €2,79, so you're not wasting a lot of money trying it out.

In case anyone was wondering, the eyeshadows are Shiro cosmetics Link (liner), lightest color from the Wet n Wild Green Moss trio (lid), Shiro cosmetics Goron (crease), MAD minerals Whisper Gold (browbone), and a mishmash of greens on the lower lashline.

Do you have a favorite mascara?
Have you tried this one?

  1. I haven't tried this mascara, but I may. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect one and I haven't found it yet, sadly.
